It gained its official title for its specific physical and technical features such as the course slope, length of the course and the place where the competitions and races are held, as well as amenities and other recreational facilities.

Dizin is situated on the northern mountains of Tehran at Gajereh region, where its distance from Chaloos road is 123 km and by Shemshak is 71 km.

The installation of ski-lifts at Dizin dates back to 1348 (1969) which includes three tele cabines, two ski lifs, seven dish tele skis and one Hammer tele ski, the lowest point of the region is 2,650 in, while its highest point is 3,600 m, above the sea level.

Dizin climatologically condition offers the longest time for skiing, normally begins in (22 N0V. -22 MAY) Because of the expansion of the region.

Dizin ski amenities included  two hotels, 19 cottages and 5 restaurants, The ski activity in Dizin complex is not confined to winter season.

In 1372 (1993) taking the viewpoints of the International Ski Federation into consideration, and with regard to the co-operation of the concerned experts in this field, the cornerstone of Grasski was laid down after a year endeavor, it was opened to public in 1994.

In 1375 (1996) the first international Grasski tournament was held at Dizin in which some famous countries participated, The International Ski Federation representatives while expressing their agreement that these possibilities are suitable and comply with international standards, agreed that the grass ski  contests be held in Iran, and thus they handed over the Presidency of the West-Asian Grass ski competitions to Iran. Apart from grass ski there are also other facilities such as tennis courts, heights for mountain climbing, different tracks for cyclists in mountainous region which all in all absorb many champions and sport lovers for competition from all over the world. For the time being, Dizin is open to the public on summer holidays and every day in the winter.

Step-by-step ski training courses are offered to the trainees skilful ski trainers and sport lovers as well as those who love and want to spend their time in the beautiful and affricative mountain sites.
At the present ,the Dizin ski region is administered by Iran ski federation.

Shemshak Ski area is located at a distance of 57 km northeast of Tehran. It includes two skilifts, three dish teleskis, and two hammer tele skis. The highest point of the field is 3050 m, while the lowest point is 2550 m above the sea level. It is considered as next in rank to Dizin ski complex.

Both of the mentioned ski resorts enjoy suitable off piste slopes (the slopes of these two areas ae between 10% to 70%); these two ski resorts are located in a region which has 4 peaks each with an altitude of over 4000 m, But because of the danger of avalanche, some fences are sketched around the safe places to protect the safety of those skiers who would like to ski in that region.

Because of enjoying suitable slopes and easy access from Tehran, both Dizin & Shemshak resorts are considered as one of the best places for skiing in Iran.
